Business Central · Upgrade from NAV

Move from Dynamics NAV to Business Central — safely

Most NAV versions are out of support or close to it. We plan the right path for your system, rebuild what matters and leave behind what doesn’t.

Sound familiar?

What we hear from customers

Our NAV version is out of support, and that worries our auditors.
Years of undocumented customisations — nobody knows what will break.
Our last upgrade was painful, slow and expensive.
We’re still paying for servers, SQL licences and patching.
We can’t use Copilot, Power BI apps or mobile access on NAV.

What we do

Two proven paths — we help you choose

Upgrade assessment

We review your NAV version, customisations, add-ons and data, then recommend a path with a fixed scope.

Technical upgrade

Your history comes with you. NAV is upgraded through the supported steps and migrated to Business Central online.

Clean start

Begin fresh with master data, open items and balances. Often faster and cheaper for heavily customised systems.

Customisations to extensions

Code that is still needed is rebuilt as upgrade-safe extensions; the rest is replaced by standard features or apps.

Trial migrations

Repeated test runs in a sandbox, so go-live weekend holds no surprises.

Retire the old servers

Decommission NAV infrastructure and archive historical data for reference.

Architecture

The upgrade path

NAV cannot move straight to the cloud. Every supported route passes through Business Central on-premises before migrating online.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we go straight from NAV to the cloud?

No. Microsoft’s supported path goes through Business Central version 14 on-premises (and extra steps for older NAV versions) before migrating to Business Central online.

Will our customisations survive?

Only once they are rebuilt as extensions. In practice many are no longer needed, because standard Business Central or an AppSource app now covers them.

Do we keep our history?

Yes with a technical upgrade. With a clean start, only master data, open items and balances move, and older history is archived for reference.
